Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Front, made a significant move by placing his deposit to run for President.
Sri Lanka will hold its first presidential election since the country sank into a deep economic crisis two years ago. The vote is set to be held September 21.
National Democratic Front Vice President Gomitha Yasas Wijesiri and Sri Lanka Freedom Party Galle District Leader Sajin Vas Gunawardena placed the deposit on behalf of DSecretariat in Rajagiriya.
Deposits have been placed by seven candidates expecting to run for office at the September Presidential Election.
