The packages have been sent from the United States, Canada and several European countries including France to different addresses in Colombo. However, the officials have confirmed following investigations that the addresses mentioned in the parcels were fake and had proceeded to open the relevant suspicious parcels for inspection.

Upon inspection, the officials have discovered nearly 08 kilograms of ‘Kush’ cannabis, 160 grams of a drug identified as ‘Mandy’ – also known as MDMA, 350 ecstasy pills and 08 grams of ‘Ice’ drugs (Crystal Methamphetamine).

The seized drugs, with an estimated total street value of Rs. 60 million, will be handed over to Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for onward legal proceedings, the Sri Lanka Customs said.
