Uzbekistan Airways today initiated its first flight service at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), MRIA duty manager said.
The inaugural flight was ceremonially greeted with a water salute. The flight arrived at the airport at 9.30 a.m. and was scheduled to leave for Male at 11.00 a.m. A total of 113 passengers were on board, and 94 passengers embarked. The remaining 17 passengers are scheduled to leave for Male.
The airline intends to operate a weekly flight between Uzbekistan and MRIA every week starting from today.
The flight service was initiated today following a discussion held between Sri Lanka Airlines and the Air Service World Congress 2021 forum held in Dubai last December.
