Obtaining the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) will be mandatory from February when obtaining services relating to registering and transferring vehicles at the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT).
Commissioner General of Motor Traffic Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe said ownership or registration of vehicles cannot be done without the TIN.
Therefore, the Commissioner General urged the people to obtain the TIN as soon as possible if they need the service from the Department and requested the people not to waste their time coming to the Department without the number.
