Police have arrested a suspect who was wanted in connection with the theft of property worth more than Rs. 250 million and a firearm in Bambalapitiya area on December 16.
According to the information received by the officers of Borella Police that a suspect involved in housebreaking was staying on Maradana area, when a group of police officers went to check the concerned person, he ran away and later the police officers chased him and arrested him.
During further investigation, the 100 amount of American dollar notes, 20 Yen notes, 3 gold necklaces, 4 pendants, 5 bangles, one gold biscuit, two earrings and one red gemstone were found in the possession of the suspect and taken into custody by the police.
The arrested suspect is a resident of Hokandara, who is about 30-years old. About 13,600 milligrams of heroine were also found in the suspect’s possession.
Further investigation revealed that this suspect was wanted for breaking into a house in Bambalapitiya Police area and stealing gold jewellery, property worth over Rs. 25 crore and a firearm. (LankaXpress.com)
