Strong Winds Heavy Rains due to Cyclone Mandous

The cyclonic storm “Mandous” over Southwest Bay of Bengal away from 300km north-east of Trincomalee. Most areas experienced cold weather due to the cyclonic storm “Mandous” over Southwest Bay of Bengal. Cloudy skies prevailed over most parts of the island today.

According to the Met Department forecast, cloudy skies will prevail over most parts Sri Lanka on December 9.

It is very likely cyclonic storm “Mandous” move west-northwestwards and cross North Tamil-Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coast over Southwest Bay of Bengal around mid-night of 09th December.

Intermittent showers are expected in the Northern Province with heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm at some places. Showers will occur at times in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in Galle, Matara and Trincomalee districts. Cloudy skies will prevail over most parts of the Island. 

Several spells of showers may occur in the Western and North-Western Provinces and Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts.

Strong winds about (60-70) kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva & Central provinces.
