Sri Lanka Central Bank to freeze migrants money sending through unlawful methods

Sri Lanka Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal in a twitter message says Bank accounts of those who distribute and receive money through unlawful money transmission methods will be frozen with immediate effect.

Central Bank urges all migrant Sri Lankans to use only legal channels to repatriate their earnings.

Sri Lankan migrant workers will receive an additional Rs. 10 for each US Dollar they convert into Rupees in December through Sri Lankan licensed Banks and other formal channels.

Nearly Rupees 72 Billion worth foreign money has been illegally exchanged last month. Migrant workers urged to use only official banking channels says CBSL Governor.
