Sri Lanka records the lowest single-day coronavirus deaths after 35 days as only 118 COVID related deaths reported. However Sri Lanka’s COVID death toll is reaching the 12,000 mark. About 2500 coronavirus related deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka during September 1 to September 16.
For the 5th consecutive day, Sri Lanka records less than 150 COVID related deaths.
According to the Director General of Health Services, 118 deaths had taken place September 15 and the total number of fatalities in Sri Lanka increased to 11,817.
According to the data reported by the Government Information Department, the total deaths due to Covid-19 Since the pandemic began last March has now risen to 11,817. Among the dead majority were males. Out of the 11,817 deaths, over 6600 are male while about 5200 are females.
The majority of the deaths are of the people in the over 60 years of age group. 76% percent deaths are above age 60 years group. 22 percent are 30-59 and 1.16% are below the age of 30.
