Sri Lanka records the lowest number of PCR tests after 2 month while several Delta Covid-19 variant patients are reporting islandwide. Only 5631 PCR tests done on July 6th, the lowest number of test on a single day during the third covid wave. Due to the health unions strike, it was reported that the PCR testing and lab activities at many hospitals severely hampered. On July 4th, Sri Lanka conducted only 9,279 PCR tests while July 5th 15,780 PCRs. So far today 919 new coronavirus cases detected in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka July 5th records the lowest single-day coronavirus cases after 2 months as only 869 COVID cases reported mainly due to low PCR tests. Joint Federation of Supplementary Medical Services comprising 13 trade unions have launched a strike based on several demands and today called of the strike.
