Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshbandu Tennakoon has affirmed that the Sri Lanka Police are prepared to respond decisively to the underworld. Speaking today (04) during the launch of the second phase of “Operation Justice / Yukthiya,” IGP Tennakoon emphasized that this initiative is not temporary. It will persist until drugs and organized crime are eradicated from Sri Lanka.
IGP Tennakoon also issued a special request to the public, encouraging them to provide information about drug activities without fear. To facilitate this, the police have introduced a confidential telephone number at the division level. He assured the public that their identities and information would be kept confidential, emphasizing the police’s commitment to protecting informants.
The police have also announced substantial cash rewards for information on crimes involving weapons such as pistols and revolvers. The public is urged to assist the police in these efforts by providing relevant information.
He underscored that “Operation Justice / Yukthiya” will continue to be enforced against drug-related activities and underworld gangsters.
