Sri Lanka pays for two coal ships docked at port

Sri Lanka paid for two ships carrying coal. Central Bank has provided the required dollars for the ships. Two vessels carrying 120,000 MT of Coal begun unloading after the payment of US$ 38 million. Officials say that the two ships could be used to generate electricity through the Norochcholai power plant until next October.

With these 2 vessels the Coal requirement before the monsoon deadline is fulfilled. Further a Jet Fuel Cargo and a Diesel Cargo consignment commenced unloading as well.

Two vessels have been anchored in Sri Lankan waters for the past few days till officials made the payment.
