Strong wind alerts issued for several areas

Sri Lanka Meteorology Department’s Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre issued strong winds alerts till November 10th for Northern, North-western, North-central and Western Provinces and Trincomalee, Galle and Matara districts.

PLEASE BE AWARE
A low-pressure area has formed in the south-east Bay of Bengal. It is likely to intensify further in to a depression during next 36 hours and move West-Northwestwards towards North Tamil Nadu, closer to North coast of Sri Lanka Strong gusty winds up to (40 – 50) kmph are likely at times over Northern, North- western, North-central and Western Provinces and Trincomalee, Galle and Matara districts.

ACTION SUGGESTED:
 Drivers and people using roads in the hilly areas are requested to be vigilant.
 Beware of fallen trees and power lines.
 Be alert on the advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology.
