Sri Lanka imposed islandwide curfew as thousands of citizens are planning to launch protests island wide on April 3 Sunday against the government.
An islandwide curfew will be imposed from 6.00 pm today (April 2) till 6.00 am on Monday (04 April) according to DG Government Information Department.
Public are prohibited entering or passing roads or any other public area during curfew period. Police requests residents to stay at home during the curfew period. Passengers traveling to Air Ports can use travel itinerary Passport / Air Tickets as security pass during curfew. Passengers arriving could use the boarding pass as a curfew pass to reach their homes during the curfew period.
Meanwhile, On April 1st, Sri Lanka’s president declared a state of emergency giving sweeping powers to security forces a day after the Mirihana Protest.
According to social media posts and Chat Groups, thousands of citizens are planning to launch protests island wide on April 3 Sunday. Sri Lankans are facing severe shortages of essentials, sharp price rises and crippling power cuts.
