Due to the development of a low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, showery conditions are expected to enhance during the next few days starting today (27), the Meteorology Department says.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Heavy showers of about 100 mm are likely at some places in Rathnapura, Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts, it said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere in the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected at some places in Northern, North-central, Eastern and Central provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
