Sajith vows to raise public employees’ minimum wage to Rs. 57,500

Samagi Jana Balawegaya-led alliance’s presidential candidate opposition leader Sajith Premadasa asserts that Sri Lanka’s unemployment crisis will be resolved under an SJB government through their comprehensive plan to create job opportunities for the youth of the country including unemployed graduates.
 
Addressing an election rally held in Medawachchiya, Premadasa added that he is committed to resolve the issues of the country’s 22 million people by uplifting their livelihoods, upon his election to the office of president.

Speaking further, the SJB’s presidential candidate said: “From January onwards, we will raise the salaries of state employees by 24%. The living expenses allowance would be increased to Rs 25,000. The minimum salary granted to the state workers would be Rs 57,500.”

“Additionally, the existing tax rates that exist between the ranges of 6% to 36% will be brought down to a range between 1% to 24%”, he added.

“A 50 kilogram of fertilizer would be sold at 5,000 rupees for the farmers. Along with that, the agriculture loans would be completely written off”, said Sajith Premadasa.

“We will follow a comprehensive plan to provide employment opportunities to the youth of this country including the unemployed graduates.”

Meanwhile, Premadasa also pledged that an SJB government will construct seven manufacturing factories in the Medawachchiya, Horowpothana, Anuradhapura East, Anuradhapura West, Kala Wewa, Mihintale and Kekirawa electoral districts in the Anuradhapura district.

“Do not have any doubt in us. I consider all 22 million people of this country as members of my family. We are committed to end the sufferings of you and to encourage and strengthen you.

“I will encourage the people by considering the sufferings of the public as an issue of mine. I’m committed to resolving the issues of the people and will definitely strengthen the livelihoods of the people”, he added.
