The Chairman of the Election Commission of Sri Lanka, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake emphasized that only a limited number of individuals are permitted to engage in door-to-door canvassing to promote presidential candidates.
Speaking during a press conference held today (08), Ratnayake stated that under the current law, the door-to-door campaigning is strictly regulated, with no more than five individuals allowed to participate in distributing leaflets to voters.
He further clarified that holding political marches during door-to-door campaigns is generally restricted, in line with the legal guidelines.
Additionally, Ratnayake addressed the issue of campaign stickers on vehicles. He noted that only the vehicles of candidates contesting the election themselves are authorized to display such promotional materials.
Any other vehicles found bearing candidate stickers or other campaign-related displays are in violation of election laws, he cautioned
