President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to address the inaugural session of Sri Lanka’s 10th Parliament on November 21 at 3 PM, where he will present the Government’s Policy Statement.
Under Article 33(a) of the Constitution, the President is empowered to outline the government’s future vision at the commencement of each new parliamentary session. Historically known as the “Throne Speech,” this tradition dates back to 1947, when Governor Sir Henry Monck-Mason Moore delivered the first address.
The President’s address will highlight key policy priorities and set the direction for the government’s legislative agenda.
