The representatives of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and all other political parties of the ruling party have held a meeting headed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the President’s Secretariat.
SLPP Parliamentarian S.M. Chandrasena said the focus of the meeting largely fell on the upcoming presidential election.
Meanwhile, MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena, commenting in this regard, expressed that President Wickremesinghe was requested to initiate discussions with the SLPP leadership, in order to obtain the party’s support as a presidential candidate.
“Whatever happens, discussions must be carried out. Therefore we asked the President to hold discussions with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Basil Rajapaksa regarding the matter”, he added.
