The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the electricity sector regulator grants approval to Ceylon Electricity Board CEB to impose power cuts today.
There will be 1 hour islandwide power cuts today from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm & 45 minutes power cuts from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm says Chairman, PUCSL.
At the moment, several power plants including the Combined Twin Cycle Power Plant at the Kelanitissa shut down due to the lack of fuel.
On February 17, PUCSL said that they and CEB successfully implement a pilot project of bulk supply consumers using their standby generators. “Total of 70 MW standby generators operated between 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm” said Janaka Ratnayake, Chairman PUCSL.
