Police requests public to not going trips, picnics and pilgrimages during this long weekend by crossing provincial boarders. Police to take strict legal action against those who violate quarantine regulations.
Sri Lanka Police says they will deploy Intelligence Officers to identify vehicles which crossed provincial boarders from October 15 to October 21. Police to check parked vehicles and its number plates and identify those who crossed provincial boarders at public places, beaches and religious places. Police further says they will implement special security arrangement in Expressway Entry / Exit points from today.
Government requests public to limit travels between provinces from October 16 to October 21 period. It has been decided to strictly enforce the inter-provincial travel restrictions that are currently in effect until October 21st Thursday.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed the security forces to closely and strictly monitor the vehicular movements at all provincial borders due to the long weekend with holidays on the 19th and 20th.
