Police on the lookout for man who held 12-year-old in captive in Keselwatta

Police have launched an investigation into an incident where a child sustained injuries after reportedly jumping from the second floor of a house on Peer Saibo Road in Keselwatta.
The 12-year-old child who sustained serious injuries in the incident is currently receiving treatment at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) in Colombo, the Police Media Division said.
On Sunday (Apr 13), the child, along with two other children, had gone to a shop in the neighborhood and according to Police, they had knocked on the gate of a three-storied house situated nearby.
Subsequently, a resident of that house is said to have forcibly taken the child inside and locked her in a room on the second floor. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the traumatized child had opened a window in the room and jumped to the ground.
The main suspect involved in the incident has fled the area, while a 59-year-old individual who assisted the suspect has been taken into custody, according to the Keselwatta Police.
