Police arrested 418 persons those who violate quarantine curfew and quarantine regulations

Police arrested 418 persons for violating curfew and quarantine regulations last 24-hour (September 23). Police sent back 312 people after warning those who haven’t valid reasons to travel but tried to cross the roadblocks. From 2020 October 30th, so far total 77,543 people arrested for not wear face masks, not main social distancing concept and not obey travel restriction & curfew rules.

Police strictly enforces the quarantine curfew. The Tri-Forces and the Police Special Task Force (STF) has set up roadblocks at all provincial borders. 13 roadblocks were setup in entry / exit points to Wester Province.

Wearing mask and social distancing are mandatory in Sri Lanka, if violated Rs.10,000 fine & up to 6 month’s imprisonment.

The ongoing Quarantine Curfew is expected to be lifted October 1st at 4am, but the final decision will be taken by the COVID-19 Task Force after closely monitoring the situation.
