A coordinated operation carried out by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police in Pulmoddai, Trincomalee on 10th February 2023 led to the apprehension of a suspect with 700 tablets of prescription drug (PREGAB).
The combined operation had been carried out by the naval establishment SLNS Walagamba in the Eastern Naval Command and the Kuchchaweli Police. The raiding party had searched a suspicious person on a private bus travelled from Trincomalee to Pulmoddai. As the person was carrying 700 tablets of prescription drug for sale, he was taken into custody.
The suspect apprehended is a resident of Gopalapuram in Nilaweli aged 41. The suspect along with the prescription drugs was handed over to the Kuchchaweli Police for further investigation.
