Chinese Envoy, Pathfinder Foundation Discuss Boosting China-Sri Lanka Ties
Colombo – LankaXpres – In a bid to deepen bilateral cooperation, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenghong held discussions with Milinda Moragoda, founder of the Pathfinder Foundation, to explore new avenues for strengthening China-Sri Lanka relations.
The meeting, which took place over lunch at Ambassador Qi’s residence, provided a platform for in-depth dialogue on the current global landscape, the state of bilateral ties, the investment climate in Sri Lanka for Chinese businesses, and other pressing regional and international issues.
During the discussion, Moragoda outlined the ongoing work of the China-Sri Lanka Cooperation Studies Centre, a key initiative of the Pathfinder Foundation focused on promoting strategic dialogue between the two nations. He also noted that several Chinese delegations are expected to visit the Foundation in the coming weeks, contributing to a deeper mutual understanding of bilateral relations.
Highlighting the Foundation’s commitment to regional engagement, Moragoda expressed interest in collaborating with Chinese institutions keen on enhancing their presence in South Asia, particularly in Sri Lanka.
Pathfinder Foundation Chairman Bernard Goonetilleke and several diplomatic staff members from the Chinese Embassy also took part in the meeting.
