The Ministry of Foreign Affairs learns with deep sorrow of the passing away of Mr. M.E. Lionel Fernando, former Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and conveys its profound condolences to his family.
The late Mr. Fernando served as Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2001. He also served as High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Malaysia, Ambassador to the Netherlands and Ambassador to France.
