The Presidential Task Force for ‘One Country, One Law’ has commenced consulting the public opinion.
Accordingly, ideas and suggestions can be sent to ocol.consultations@gmail.com or to the Secretary, Presidential Task Force on One Country, One Law, P.O. Box. 504, Colombo by November 30, 2021. The Secretary of the Committee further said that individuals can present their opinions in person from to the Task Force.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed this Task Force to make a study of the implementation of the concept; One Country, One Law within Sri Lanka and make proposals to prepare a framework for the said purpose.
The Presidential Task Force for ‘One Country, One Law’ has commenced consulting the public opinion from the Vavuniya District on November 20.
The consultation took place November 21 at the Valampuri Hall in Jaffna. Lawyers, professionals, religious leaders, students and civilians presented their views before the Task Force on various aspects of inequality or enforcement of the law.
The Task Force says that it will meet the people in the Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi Districts November 22 and in the future a public consultation will be held covering the other eight provinces of the country.
The consultation was held at the office of the “Northern Province Organic Food Producers’ Association” in Bogaswewa, Vavuniya and at the auditorium of the Vavuniya District Secretariat.
People representing various ethnic groups living in these areas expressed their views before the Task Force. The people expressed their gratitude to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for giving them such an opportunity.
Appreciating the opinions of the people, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera said that he is determined to make the concept of ‘One Country, One Law’ a reality.
Members of the committee including Prof. Shanthi Nandana Weerasinghe and Aiyampillai Ananda Raja and the Secretary of the Task Force Ms. Jeewanthi Senanayake, the Senior Assistant Secretary to the President, and other officials were also present at the occasion.
