Attorney-at-Law Nuwan Bopage has officially declared his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election, representing the Jana Aragala Vyaparaya (JAV), also known as the People’s Struggle Movement. JAV gained prominence for its active involvement during Sri Lanka’s Aragalaya “Struggle,” which played a crucial role in the ousting of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The presidential election is scheduled for September 21.
Alongside Bopage, several other prominent figures have confirmed their participation, including the incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sajith Premadasa, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, and Wijedasa Rajapaksa.
