President Inaugurates New Clinical Training and Research Block at University of Jaffna
Jaffna, May 24 (LankaXpress.com) – President Ranil Wickremesinghe today inaugurated the Clinical Training and Research Block (CTRB) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, marking the first significant new construction at the faculty in 46 years. The project, completed at a cost of Rs. 942 million, was funded by the Government of Sri Lanka.
Originally proposed in 2017 with a budget of Rs. 700 million and slated for completion by 2019, the CTRB faced delays and was ultimately finished in December 2023. The state-of-the-art facility aims to enhance medical education and research capabilities at the University of Jaffna.
The inauguration ceremony, held at 10:00 a.m., also marked the launch of the Jaffna Regional Collaboration Centre (RCC) in partnership with SingHealth Duke NUS, fostering international collaboration in medical research and training.
