National Water Tariffs to Increase by 3% in January 2024

In response to the recently passed VAT (Amendment) Bill, the National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a 3% increase in water tariffs starting January 1, 2024. The amendment, approved by Parliament on December 11, has raised the Value Added Tax (VAT) from 15% to 18%.

The NWSDB stated that the adjustment in water tariffs aligns with the revised VAT rate and is essential to maintain the sustainability of water supply and drainage services. The increased tariffs are expected to contribute to covering operational costs and ensuring continued access to high-quality water services.
