Latest University Rankings Sri Lanka – 3 universities made it to the top 2,000 list
The latest global university rankings for 2023/2024 have been released, and three universities from Sri Lanka have made it to the top 2,000 list. The government aims to increase the number of local universities on this prestigious list.
According to the recently published 2023 edition of Webometrics university rankings, Colombo University has regained its position as the best university in Sri Lanka, surpassing Peradeniya University. Colombo University now holds the 1485th rank in the world. In the past, Colombo University and Moratuwa University were leading the rankings, but in the last three years, Peradeniya Campus took the top spot.
This year, Peradeniya University has secured the second position and ranked 1885th in the world, with Sri Jayewardenepura University following closely in third place and ranked 1944th place. Moratuwa University has been ranked fourth, while Ruhuna Campus and Kelaniya University have dropped to fifth and sixth place, respectively. On the other hand, Rajarata University has climbed to seventh place, and Jaffna University is ranked eighth.
These rankings highlight the impressive performance of Sri Lankan universities on the global stage and reflect the country’s commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education.
