The new Kelani Bridge at Peliyagoda, built on high-tech stay cables has been named the ‘Golden Gate Kalyani’ and to be opened to the public on November 24 under the patronage of the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The six-lane bridge, which aims at easing the traffic congestion in Colombo and suburban areas, is the first ever to be constructed in Sri Lanka with hi-tech stay cables.
This is the Sri Lanka’s first bridge built on high-tech cables.
