Water Supply Disruption in Multiple Areas Due to Transmission Pipeline Burst

Residents in Godagama, Homagama, Pannipitiya, Pelanwatta, Rukmalgama, and Mattegoda are facing an indefinite water supply interruption following a major incident. According to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWS&DB), a significant burst has occurred in the water transmission pipeline originating from the Kalatuwawa treatment plant.

The pipeline, which is a crucial component in the region’s water distribution network, suffered extensive damage, leading to the disruption. Teams from the NWS&DB are currently on site, working to assess and repair the damage. However, there is no definitive timeline for the restoration of services at this point.
