Justice Mohammed Thahir Laffar Appointed Acting President of Court of Appeal

Justice Mohammed Thahir Laffar, the most senior judge currently serving on the Court of Appeal, has been appointed as its Acting President.

He was sworn in before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (Feb 2) at the Presidential Secretariat.

The appointment comes as Justice Bandula Karunarathna, the incumbent President of the Court of Appeal, proceeds on pre-retirement leave, which has been accepted by the President. Justice Laffar will serve in this capacity until a new Acting President is appointed in accordance with the Constitution.
