JaGAAS Life-Time Awards – 2025 to Honour Japanese and Sri Lankan Alumni for Outstanding Contributions
Colombo, Sri Lanka (LankaXpress) – The Japanese Graduates’ Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JaGAAS) has announced the inaugural JaGAAS Life-Time Awards – 2025, which will recognize exceptional Japanese and Sri Lankan alumni of Japanese institutions for their significant contributions to Sri Lanka’s economy and society.
The prestigious awards ceremony is set to take place on March 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo. His Excellency Akio Isomata, the Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the JICA Representative in Sri Lanka will be the Guest of Honour.
For the first time, a total of seventeen awardees—seven Japanese and ten Sri Lankans—will be honoured for their remarkable contributions in various sectors, including agriculture, business, education, technological development, and sustainable peace. The awards underscore the enduring ties between Japan and Sri Lanka and the vital role played by Japanese-educated professionals in national progress.
The JaGAAS Life-Time Awards – 2025 is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Colombo, JICA, and representatives of the Japanese community in Sri Lanka. This initiative aims to celebrate individuals whose dedication has had a lasting impact on Sri Lanka’s development while further strengthening the bond between the two nations.
