Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Visit Thailand and Sri Lanka from April 3-6

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on an official visit to Thailand and Sri Lanka from April 3 to 6, 2025, reinforcing India’s commitment to regional cooperation and bilateral partnerships.

Modi will first visit Bangkok from April 3-4 at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. He will participate in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit on April 4, marking the first in-person meeting of BIMSTEC leaders since 2018. The summit, themed “BIMSTEC – Prosperous, Resilient and Open,” will focus on strengthening regional collaboration in trade, security, connectivity, and climate resilience. Modi is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Thai Prime Minister to enhance ties between the two maritime neighbors.

Following his visit to Thailand, Modi will travel to Sri Lanka from April 4-6 for a State Visit at the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Discussions will center on the progress of the Joint Vision for Fostering Partnerships for a Shared Future, agreed upon during Dissanayake’s visit to India. Modi will also inaugurate development projects in Anuradhapura, funded through Indian financial assistance.

This visit marks Modi’s first trip to Sri Lanka since 2019 and underscores India’s commitment to its Neighbourhood First and Act East policies, along with the MAHASAGAR vision for regional security and growth.
