Temperature records of several districts projected to exceed 31°C. Ratnapura may soar to a scorching over 34°C, while Colombo, Jaffna, Kandy and Anuradhapura are set to reach over 33°C. Maximum temperature of 35.8°C reported in Kurunegala area during last 24 hours.

The Health officials encouraging everyone, particularly children, athletes, and those frequently exposed to the outdoors, to take extra precautions and drink plenty of water. Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in, and the consequences can range from mild discomfort to severe medical emergencies.

Health experts suggest carrying a water bottle and drinking water at regular intervals, even if one does not feel particularly thirsty.
