Gross official reserves now around USD 3.5 billion

The level of gross official reserves is estimated at around USD 3.5 billion as at end June 2023, including the swap facility from the People’s Bank of China.

Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) says that the Sri Lanka’s official Reserve Assets was USD 2,761 million in April 2023. This includes a swap facility from People’s Bank of China, USD 1.4 billion, which is subject to conditionalities on usability.

In November last year, Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves dropped to USD 1.58 billion. When the Rajapaksa government took office in November 2019, country’s foreign reserves were approximately US$ 7.5 billion.
