Government to restrict the calling of staff to offices in the public service

Update – Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that non-essential government sector employees have been informed NOT to report to work May 20 due to the shortage of fuel.

Sri Lanka government has focused on restricting the calling of staff in the public service to work places. The expectation is to call for service only for essential services.

The Government has taken steps to provide the opportunity to carry out daily duties from home ( Work From Home ) whenever possible, and the Commissioner General of Essentials has made a written request to the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government to call only the essential staff so as not to interfere with office work.
