Former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne who had been on remand for driving under the influence of liquor and causing damage to two other vehicles was granted bail by Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate Sanjaya L.M. Wijesinghe today.
He was granted a surety bail of Rs. 100,000 and a cash bail of Rs. 2,500.
Police informed the court that the investigations into the accident were completed and there were no objections to granting bail to the Senior DIG.
The retired Senior DIG was arrested by the Wellawatta police after he had caused damages to two vehicles parked in front of a hotel at Muhudu Mawatha in Wellawatta on Sunday (29).
A breathalyzer test had established that he was under the influence of liquor at the time of the accident.
