Dr. Vickramabahu Karunaratne, leader of the Nawa Sama Samaja Pakshaya (NSSP), has passed away at the age of 81, according to family sources. Dr. Karunaratne was a candidate in the 2010 presidential election and was known for his longstanding involvement in Sri Lankan politics.
In 1977, he joined forces with other former members of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP), including Vasudeva Nanayakkara, to establish the Nava Sama Samaja Party (New Social Equality Party). His contributions to the political landscape in Sri Lanka have left a lasting impact.
