Daily COVID caseload is increasing again, 2460 new cases, highest after 50 days

According to Epidemiology Unit data, 2460 new COVID-19 cases were reported July 30. Among the cases confirmed today, 1455 are from the New Year cluster and 5 are foreign arrivals currently in quarantine. Sri Lanka recorded less than 2000 daily cases since June 23, Today caseload is the highest after June 11th. Sri Lanka’s active COVID patients count again increased to 27,126.

According to Institute for Health Policy IHP data, Sri Lanka’s “Test Positivity Rate” is increasing again. Test positivity (using PCR tests) shows as 18% while seven day average shows as 15%. In July first week the rate was about 10%. Seven day average of PCR tests indicate as about 12,000.
