The Chinese government has pledged further assistance to Sri Lanka following recent floods by offering a new batch of emergency humanitarian materials worth RMB 10 million, equivalent to approximately LKR 400 million. This latest commitment adds to an earlier donation of USD 100,000 (about LKR 30 million) in cash.
Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, recently met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo on October 22 to deliver the initial donation. The funds were presented to help alleviate the struggles of communities affected by severe flooding across the country.
This support reflects China’s ongoing commitment to aiding Sri Lanka during its crisis response and recovery efforts. ( LankaXpress.com)
