Groundbreaking Ceremony for China-Aided Subsidized Housing Project Held in Colombo

The groundbreaking ceremony for the China-aided subsidized housing project for low-income families was successfully held in Colombo on December 27. The initiative, a generous gift from the Chinese people to Sri Lanka, aims to construct 1,996 housing units to support underprivileged communities.

The project, funded through a grant of Rs. 22 billion from the Chinese government, underscores the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. Once completed, the housing units will provide much-needed shelter and improved living conditions for low-income families in Sri Lanka.

Officials from both countries attended the ceremony, highlighting the importance of this collaboration in addressing housing challenges and strengthening the friendship between Sri Lanka and China.
