Another attempt to postpone the 2024 Presidential Election has been dismissed : The Supreme Court rejected a petition filed by a lawyer seeking to delay the election based on a clause in the 19th Amendment .

Sri Lanka’s Election Commission plans to announce the Presidential election date and call for nominations by the end of this month. The election is likely to be held on October 5 or 12, 2024.
