Sri Lanka’s Cabinet approval has been given to amend the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 to include provisions required for the establishment of “special purpose universities”. The bill drafted by the legislature has been cleared by the Attorney General AG. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Minister of Education to gazette the bill and submit for parliamentary approval.
