AG advises arrest MPS over Galle Face Protest attacks

Update – Attorney General AG directs the Police Chief IGP and DIG-CID to arrest 22 SLPP activists and parliamentarians including Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha, Sanjeewa Edirimanna, Milan Jayathilake, mayor Saman Lal Fernando, Mahinda Kahanadagamage and Dan Priyasad if sufficient evidence are available over the incidents at Galle Face and Kollupitiya Temple Trees.

The Attorney General has further instructed the IGP to immediately arrest the DIG in charge of the Colombo area, SDIG Deshabandu Tennakoon, in addition to the politicians involved in the crime.

Attorney General AG advises Police CID to record statements from 25 persons including parliamentarians Sanath Nishantha, Johnston Fernando, Pavithra Wanniarachchi and Police officer SDIG Deshabandu Tennakoon over Galle Face Protest attacks and May 9th unrest in Sri Lanka, reports Hirunews.

Police says so far about 400 suspects arrested over the incidents in Galle Face & Colpitty and for attacking persons, causing damages to public & private property Island wide.

Police seek public help to identify suspects and arrest them over Temple Trees protest site and Galle Face Protest site GotaGoGama attacks on May 9th.
