A total of 83,309 tourists from various parts of the world visited the country during the month of May, the Immigration and Emigration Department said.
The department statistics indicated that most of the tourists were from India, the Russian Federation, Germany, followed by Britain and Australia.
The data provides an overview of month-on-month and annual changes in visitor arrivals to Sri Lanka from international source markets.
