65-hour water cut to be imposed in an around Kandy

The National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced that a 65-hour water cut will affect several areas in an around Kandy from 1.00 a.m. on September 28 to 6.00 p.m. on September 30, due to urgent maintenance activities of the Polgolla Reservoir.

Accordingly, the water supply to the following areas will be temporarily suspended due to the Polgolla reservoir being emptied for maintenance work:

Kandy Municipal Council area and areas belonging to Harispattuwa, Pujapitiya, Pathadumbara and Akurana water supply systems. 

Rajawella, Sirimalwatta, Ampitiya, Amunugama, Hantana and Walala areas which belong to the Kundasale Divisional Secretariat division.

Mawathagama area which is supplied water by the Greater Kandy water treatment plant.

The Water Board further said it regrets any inconveniences caused to the public by the water cut, and requested that the affected populaces render their support by utilizing water sparingly.
